Why quality is crucial

The ISO 9000 quality management system is an important set of standards that helps companies and organisations ensure they meet customer needs as well as increase business efficiency and customer satisfaction. Red Source Global ’s managing director Mark Forrester believes the certification is beneficial to all types of organisations, from small businesses to global NGOs. “This is the gold standard for internal efficiency, increased productivity, customer satisfaction and profitability,” says Forrester.

ISO 9001 is used successfully all over the world. In 2013 alone, over one million certificates to the standard were issued across 187 countries, and many other companies and organisations have used the standard without seeking certification (source: iso.org).

“We first received our ISO 9001 certification in September 2020. It took us a considerable amount of time and effort but it was worth it. We've seen significant efficiencies throughout the company, and we work as a more cohesive team to best achieve our goals.

ISO standards are based on continual improvement. This is especially relevant in today’s ever-changing world. Through ISO, we define our business protocols creating appropriate objectives that also meet regulatory requirements. We constantly strive to improve on what we believe we already do well,” Forrester comments.

“We provide rapid and specialist support to humanitarian and emergency-aid entities across the world, supplying and delivering substantial quantities of food and aid to some of the most challenging environments in the world. ISO 9001-2015 certification is a must for us as our projects are often complex with challenging requirements. The certification also assures our clients that we work to exacting standards,” he adds.

Recertification assessments are based on an annual audit. Red Source Global is looking ahead to a growing, healthy business and is now looking at ISO 14001 certification. ISO 14001 relates to improvements in environmental impact and Red Source Global aims to encourage employees, partners, suppliers, and clients to engage in environmental commitments, for a better tomorrow for all.
