Recurring humanitarian crises have had a devastating impact on Somali civilians in recent years.

In 2019, Red Source Global was tasked with providing modular accommodation for its client, the world’s leading multilateral child-rights organisation. The accommodation was to equip an aid camp that provides humanitarian workers, security personnel and NGO employees with a base and home away from home.

As specialists in providing camp furniture, Red Source Global was well equipped to deliver the project. The objective was to fully furnish the camps to ensure they were robust, well equipped and suitable for the harsh climate. Red Source Global manufactured all of the furniture, ensuring that everything could be flat packed and assembled on arrival by the teams on the ground. Once manufactured, the furniture was packed into 20ft containers and shipped to Mogadishu and transported over land to the remote sites. With a team on the ground in Somalia, the furniture was assembled and the camp was successfully furnished to a high specification for the key workers.

Speaking about the project, Mark Forrester, Managing Director of Red Source Global, said: “This was one of our first projects and one which was successfully manufactured, delvered and installed  within two months of inception. We specialise in camp furniture so this project drew on our expertise and we were delighted with the outcome.”

Red Source Global is an international supply chain company that provides rapid and specialist support to humanitarian and emergency aid entities around the world. Most recently, the company entered Afghanistan to provide convoys of humanitarian aid to remote areas of the country, working with local suppliers and a network of regional specialists. The project in Afghanistan is invaluable work that helps thousands of families on the ground.

The services that Red Source Global provides allow leading NGOs, government bodies and charitable organisations to fulfill their humanitarian aid response rapidly and reliably.

In early autumn 2021, Red Source entered Afghanistan, going against the flow as many organisations, foreign aid agencies and NGOs left amidst sweeping uncertainty and turmoil.

Red Source drew on its existing and established network of regional specialists; men and women with intimate understanding of the country and with contacts in the private and governmental sectors. Where possible the company used local drivers and suppliers and swiftly created a highly effective procurement strategy.

Red Source is proud to work hand in hand with trailblazing local humanitarians and logistics experts inside Afghanistan, contributing to an economy, hugely impacted by the recent political changes.
